Law enforcement activities

Since independence, Uzbekistan made great efforts and makes concrete steps in the fight against drug trafficking.

In structures of all law enforcement agencies formed a special units for combating the drug trafficking, on the equipment, maintenance, personnel and logistical strengthening the government is constantly increasing appropriations.

On the basis of the State Customs Committee established the National Dog Training Center, conducting training and education specialist dog handlers, as well as service and search dogs on high technologies.

For the training of special units to combat drug trafficking at the Academy of the Ministry of the Interior and the Higher Military Customs Institute operating the special chairs on the subject of combating drug trafficking and anti-smuggling.

Law enforcement agencies are carried out targeted measures to identify the channels of drug trafficking, combat illegal activities of transnational drug trafficking groups, the elimination of drug crops, and prevent the spread of drug addiction.

Conducted complex operations with strength and capabilities of interested organizations, ministries and departments, local authorities and the public. In order to identify and prevent cases of illicit cultivation of narcotic plants, prevention of offenses related to drug trafficking, as well as overlapping channels of drugs into the republic from the neighboring countries, law enforcement agencies with the involvement of forces and means of other concerned agencies (including NGOs) annually conduct two-stage complex operation "Black Poppy".

The anti-drug policy of the Republic aimed at improving the material and technical, analytical and human capacity of law enforcement agencies in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime.

In order to improve detection of the transit of drugs through the state border, with modern means of engineering controls, including large stationary and mobile scanners equipped with a number of the checkpoints of the Republic.

Over the past 10 years (2005-2015) of law enforcement efforts detected 92,000 drug crimes and seized more than 32 tons of drugs.

Every year, the threshold of 26 June - International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, carried out the destruction (burning) of drugs seized by law enforcement agencies of the republic during the fight against drug trafficking. Drugs are destroyed in the presence of representatives of international organizations, the public and the media.

Since 1994, Uzbekistan destroyed 54 tons of drugs.
